I am a Westerner that grew up in Hong Kong and spent years in Asia. China isn't the boogie man which Western Media likes to make it out to be. A lot of the news which has come out of Hong Kong in recent years completely ignores that Singapore has lacked any of these freedoms for years. Yet, the Western Media are promoting Singapore as the next Hong Kong because China is clamping down on Hong Kong. I agree with a lot of what Harvey says but at times he is a bit of an apologist for China's Communist Party. He does ignore a lot of the issues which China does have. It's far from perfect. China's CCP government in Beijing has never controlled Taiwan despite another video which he made claiming that.

As someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, I would say crime levels have improved. But I can also say when you're in your home country you tend to go anywhere, you find a lot to complain about and take for grated. When you go abroad you go to places where it's safe, where there's more affluence, investments and you are far more invested in enjoying yourself and appreciating all of your experiences. But it is interesting to see videos like this in contrast to videos made by everyday Chinese people.
